Mind-Over-Matter

Your Body, Chemistry & Food. It’s not just a matter of Will-Power or Mind-over-Matter.

Understanding the Chemistry of Food & nutrition will help you Achieve & Maintain a healthy body weight as well as live a Healthier life.

Leptin

The hormone Leptin is made in the fat tissues or adipose tissue and is a regulator of satiety.
Its key purpose (was originally thought to be obesity) but it really is to signal the brain when the body has accumulated enough fat in adulthood and to assure the calories needed for successful pregnancy.

Hormones

Ghrelin is one of the hunger hormones made in the stomach, that works moment by moment. It signals the brain to eat, usually about four hours after the previous meal. So just a few hours after you eat, the ghrelin level goes from low to high.

The gut hormones, on the other hand, signal fullness. So as the food leaves the stomach and goes into the intestine, it causes another set of hormones that are in the distal part of the small bowel to release hormones called incretions, and they go to the brain and say you have eaten, you are full, stop eating.

What is a Naturopathic Doctor (ND)?

I recently received a Traditional Doctor of Naturopathy (ND) degree from Trinity College of Natural Health http://www.trinityschool.org/.
A Naturopathic Doctor does not practice medicine. They do not diagnose, treat, or cure any diseases. Naturopaths embody the philosophy of clean (pure) water and air, natural whole food, proper nutrition, healthy exercise, absence from toxic substances as well as toxic thoughts, body ecology as well as effectively managing stess. A wholistic balance of mind, body and spirit is the goal of a naturopathic doctor.
