Nutrition and Healthy Eating

Food Mistakes that can Impede Weight Loss

  1. Hidden Sugars (read labels). Try to keep daily intake of sugar to under 25 grams per day.
  2. Too much of the "Fat-Free". 60% of Brain mass is made up of healthy fat. By limiting your calories from fat to less than 25% increases anger, anxiety and mood swings according to (British Journal of Nutrition). So get at least 40% of calories from "good" fat.
  3. Eating only Egg Whites. Yokes are a main source of Choline (vital for the Brain). New studys show that yolks do not raise cholesterol levels. The yolk contains 40% of the egg's protein.
  4. No Breakfast. Eating Breakfast can raise your metabolic rate by about 10%. It doesn't have to be a large breakfast. One cup of Fresh/Frozen fruit & a few Almonds will do.
  5. Not Replenishing after Exercising. Eat within 30 minutes of working out to deliver nutrients to your muscles.
  6. Eating "Healthy" Packeged Foods. Processed foods may be convenient, but they are not nutrient dense.
